There’s a certain kind of freedom you feel when you’re behind the wheel of your golf cart, wind in your hair, and sun on your face, with your neighbors waving to you as you cruise through your neighborhood.

Maybe you just sipped your first coffee, maybe you are coming back from the dinner with friends or riding with another couple to play pickleball. Cruising in your cart makes you feel alive, and no good ride is complete without a killer soundtrack. If you own a golf cart, you have style and if you’re going to cart in true style, you need the right soundtrack. Now we are not talking some techno mumbo jumbo kids today are listening to—I’m talkingreal music. The kind you sang along to with the windows down, when your hair still had its original color, and your back didn’t crackle like a bowl of Rice Krispies. lol

Here is our essential golf cart playlist—songs that roll with you, match the rhythm of the wheels on the path, and makes you feel like you’re cruising on the Highway back in the day… even if you’re only doing 14 mph.

So, grab a drink, flip your shades down, and let’s talk tunes. Here are 10 classic songs everyone should be blasting while out Cartin’ in their neighborhood. Now, when you are done with the list, we need your help to let us let us know we should add to it.

Without further ado here is Cartin’ and Crooning list. Drum Roll Please….

Keep reading to see why you need these 10 songs for your next stroll through town.

#1 - "On the Road Again" - Willie Nelson

Every golf cart playlist worth its salt starts with Willie. This song is more than just a traveling anthem—it’s a way of life. Even if you’re only driving from your cul-de-sac to the pickleball courts, you’ll feel like you’re bound for Route 66 with nothing but freedom and the entire summer ahead of you.

Best Played While: Leaving the house with a cooler full of beer, a fresh coffee, or whatever your drink of choice is and heading towards no set destination.

#2 - "Life is a Highway" - Tom Cochrane

Sure, the “highway” is actually Buena Vista Boulevard, and the speed limit is laughable, but this song makes your cart feel like it could tear through Daytona. The fuzzy guitar riff and Cochrane’s raspy vocals make you feel like a rebel—even if your biggest act of defiance is rolling through a stop sign at 3 mph.

Best Played While: Leading a golf cart convoy to the town square, or just out on the road by yourself soaking up the day.

#3 - "Take it Easy" - Eagles

You’d be a fool not to include this classic. Glenn Frey’s mellow vocals were practically made for golf cart radio. Let the lazy strum of the guitar wash over you as you wave politely to the people driving to work in their cars on the road beside you. Just as you get to your destination you hear. “Standing on a corner in….”

Best Played While: Casually rolling toward Lake Sumter Landing (we can add another destination) with your arm draped over the passenger seat.

"I had dug the fact that all these women in Arizona were driving trucks. It appealed to me," Brown said in a 1994 bio-documentary, "Jackson Brown: Going Home."

We dig the fact that women drive golf carts nowadays!

#4 - "Margaritaville" - Jimmy Buffett

Let’s be real. You don’t live in The Villages without Buffett in your soul. This song is basically the national anthem of every fun loving person over 60 with a Hawaiian shirt and a visor collection. With the sun on your face and a lime slice floating in your cup holder, you’re officially on Island Time—even if you’re still three hours ‘till happy hour.

Best Played While: Cartin’ to happy hour at the Red Sauce Patio.

#5 - "Born to be Wild" - Steppenwolf

Is it wild to go 25 mph in a souped-up golf cart with a flame decal? It sure as hell feels like it. The opening guitar riff alone will make you want to peel out in the golf cart lane—just don’t let Neighborhood Watch catch you.

Best Played While: Racing your buddy to the pickleball courts.

#6 - "Drift Away" - Dobie Gray

You’re officially floating now. Dobie Gray croons about losing himself in the music, and you can relate. You’re out laughing and cruising with friends, Cartin’s GPS is doing the thinking for you, and life feels as smooth as the fairway after a fresh mow.

Best Played While: Rolling slowly through Spanish Springs, hand in the wind, feeling poetic.

#7 - "Running down a dream" - Tom Petty

There’s nothing more Florida than Tom Petty, and this one feels like it was written for a golf cart joyride. You might not be runnin’ down one single dream—just living the dream— with Petty’s jangly guitar and easygoing drawl, you’ll feel like you’re chasing something grand.

Best Played While: Cartin’ toward Brownwood Paddock Square with no particular place to go.

#8 - "Low Rider" - War

You may not have hydraulics, but you can adjust your seat height, and that counts for something. This funky jam is perfect for showing off your tricked-out cart, especially if it has rims or undercarriage lights.

Best Played While: Rolling slow past your neighbor’s house to make them jealous of your new golf cart stereo.

#9 - "Sweet Home Alabama" - Lynrd Skynard

Florida transplants may claim Alabama as their spiritual home, which makes this song the de facto anthem of golf cart road warriors. The guitar lick alone could convince you that you can drive straight to Birmingham—until you remember your cart needs to be charged before lunch.

Best Played While: Heading to the golf course with a cooler full of sweet tea and good intentions.

#10 - "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" - Lobo

If you’ve got Buddy, Max or Daisy in the passenger seat, you’ll need this one. It’s a laid-back, windows-down kind of song, perfect for when you’re in no hurry at all. Just you, your golf cart and your furry co-pilot, riding off into the Florida sunset at a blistering 10 mph.

Best Played While: Cartin’ to your favorite dog-friendly park.
